Great Works of Art Revisited Part II

When I was at University I was never particularly fond of Dutch 17th Century art,

seen one ship in a storm seen 'em all...........
oh good, another bunch of flowers with creepy crawlies........,

but I always had a soft spot for their landscapes, broad sweeps of empty countryside with cows........... lots of cows. They appealed to my need for peace and silence and there was probably a subliminal influence from the industrial quantities of Babybel I ate in those days (good for hangovers)

Anyway, a few weeks ago, walking the dog I took this picture

but I saw this

(it's alright, I wasn't reading Veterinary Science)

Ah; I am a hooverer-up of the 17th C. Dutch, including the timeless interiors from Hals, Vermeer and Rembrandt. Far too few dogs indoors, however

I can see what you mean! I want to walk your dog please. I used to walk across Putney Common to get to the train and meet one who looked just like him- a great Dane one- he would come barreling over to say hello and we'd have a chat and I'd throw the stick- lots of people are scared of dogs and I never understand why- they always make me feel thoroughly better.
